Point Lobos State Park
Location: Monterey, south of San Jose at the westcoast
Features: ocean, seacliffs, wildlife
Point Lobos State Park is a nice park just aside highway no. 1 and features the typical vegetation and coastline of the area between San Francisco, San Jose and beyond.
Rocky formations of the rugged coastline extends into the ocean and you'll always have a good chance to see some seals. A good place to have a picknick but certainly not a nice place to spend the night, because it's not unlikely that the weather there is misty and wet.
There is a short trail system in the park where you can get nice views of Monterey Bay and interesting sights like huge trees which seem to jump over the edge into the ocean below...
